Sisterhood with the CCEE

 

Liz is our CCEE Stampers' hostess for August.  Here is her challenge for this week.

 

 As many of you know, or perhaps you don’t, Lynn and Liz are sisters. When they were asked to join the CCEE team at the same time, theyboth thought it would be fun to be doing this together. So, for your sister card, find an image of a pair or group of ladies or girls who just might be sisters doing things that sisters like to do.

 

I used an image from Penny Black.  Love the way the two girls are embracing.  Tells of friendship or kinship.  I added a sentiment from Hero Arts.  On the vertical panel I used an old SU bkgd. stamps and then added some brads to the main panel.  I finished it off with a bit of piercing.

Crazies Go Masculine

 

 

Karen continues as our June Crazy4Challenges hostess.  Here is this week's challenge.....

 

The challenge this week is to MAKE IT MASCULINE. Most of us need a masculine card or two in our stash so let's see a masculine project this week.

 

I decided to make a sympathy card that had a masculine feel to it as I usually grab flowers for these.  I stamped the leaves onto designer paper with the woven look.  I pierced the base and the sentiment panel.  CAS for sure with just a few brads added.

Crazy for Emeralds

 

It is a new month, and, therefore, the Crazy4Challenges DT has a new hhostess.  Here is Barbara's challenge for us this week.....

Hi, and welcome to a whole new month of Crazy 4 Challenges! Barbara here and I'm your hostess this month. Since May is my birth month, and the emerald is May's gem stone, let's use emerald on our cards or projects this week. Anything else goes, as long as you use emerald green somewhere.

We are tickled PINK to have Wanda Cullen of Cullen-ary Creations as our Guest Designer this month--be prepared to be WOW-ed by what Wanda has in store for us :)

I have used one of my favorite retired SU stamps.  Seems like I pick up and use it once a week lately.  To make it a bit different than my others I went blue instead of pink or red.   It may not seem it, but there is an emerald color on the leaves in the darker shading.   This card will join others in my gift stash as I have three gift collections of all occasion cards to finish in May.

CCEE Stampers Play with Acetate

Maryann continutes as the CCEE Stampers Challenge hostess for October.  Here is her challenge.

Maryann here for today's challenge. I am asking the girls to please use Acetate in any form for their project.

I did my own version of the smacking acetate technique only I used Brushos.  After several failed attempts, I went with using just yellow Brusho, sprinkled on the acetate sheet.  This way I could be sure of the 'spread' of the powder, an issue I have when I do it directly to paper.  I then misted the powder and acetate with water and placed my paper face down on the acetate.  I then let it dry naturally and heat embossed my image by I Brake for Stamps onto the panel.  The SU sentiment was also heat  embossed .  I then added the piercing around the edges of the base card and placed three brads above the sentiment.

Seeing the Light with the Crazies

Frances is the Crazies hostess for August.  This is the challenge she gave us this week.

 

The 7th August was National Lighthouse Day, so for our challenge today create a card featuring a lighthouse. If you don't have a lighthouse, think where you would find a lighthouse … near the sea, beach etc and use that for your inspiration.

 

 

I actually have several lighthouse stamps, but decided to keep it simple this week due to my mobility issues.  This stamp is from I Brake for Stamps.  The sentiment stamp is from SU.  I did some border piercing and used a SU punch for the sentiment panel. 

In the future I really want to use this stamp again and take more time to make a more dramatic scene with a beautiful sun.....fabulous sky colors, etc., but that is not today.

CCEE Stampers -- Influenced by Books

Frances is our April hostess for the CCEE Stampers challenge.  This is her challenge.....

Today is National Librarian Day, so for our challenge this week use a book as your inspiration …. Children's or Adults.

I have been a voracious reader since childhood.  I have read many genres of books.  Currently I am enjoying mystery/thriller/detective type of books.  One I read a bit ago was Storm Front by John Sanford.  I used that as the inspiration for this sympathy card.

I used an Impression Obsession 6x6 block stamp for the clouds, a Hero Arts sentiment stamp, and a tree die.

The CCEE Stampers -- Inlaid Die Cuts

Sabrina, the CCEE Stampers hostess for February is a technique savvy stamper.  This week she challenged us to use the inlaid die cut technique.  You can find a tutorial on this technqiue at Splitcoaststampers.

I went CAS with mine.  I have had, unfortunately, a need for sympathy cards, and my stash is very low, so I wanted to keep this clean and crisp for a serene sympathy card.  I used a fern die (I think it is from Cherry Lynn Designs, but am not sure)  along with a Spellbinders circle die.  I didn't exactly do it as the tutorial instructed, but my results are the same.  I added a sentiment from Hero Arts and some paper piercing around the edges.

Sketch for the Crazies

It is the third challenge of the month, so our February Crazy4Challenges hostess, Kelli, has given us a fab sketch to play with.

I went very clean and simple with the sketch, using embossing in place of the two horizontal panels, and leaving off two small elements of the design.  I have unfortunately needed several sympathy cards lately, so I prefer them to be less 'busy' than other cards.  My image is by Penny Black and my sentiment is from Hero Arts.

Moonstruck with the CCEE Stampers

Sabrina is our hostess for February for the CCEE Stampers Challenge.  Here is her challenge....

Interestingly, because February is a short month, there can actually be years in which there is no full moon at all. The last time this happened was 1999, the next time will be 2018. So while this isn’t one of those years - feature the moon on your cards.

 I have, unfortunately, needed a lot of sympathy cards recently, so I headed in that direction.

Sketch Week with the Crazies

 

Sorry for the very muddy photo....it has been one of those weeks.

It is the third challenge of the month for the Crazy4Challenges DT so it is a sketch.  I was unable to grab the sketch this week so be sure to go to the Crazies Blog to see the sketch AND the fab creations by the rest of the team.

Since the sketch was a simple one, I decided to make a sympathy card for my stash.  Sadly, I seem to use a lot more of these lately.  I used a Martha Stewart punch for the upper border on the horizontal panel.  I used a Hero Arts sentiment stamp and a Kaiserdraft stamp for the image.  In the bkgd., which does not show in this muddy picture, I used an Impression Obsession background stamp ofo clouds.

CCEE Sympathy Creations

This week  is the 20th anniversary of Vicky's mom's passing.  In her honor she asked the CCEEers to make sympathy cards this week.

I went a bit abstrace tis week, using a 'branchy' stencil on tan cardstock.  I sponged with a deeper brown ink so the 'brances' would show in different degrees.  I did this as I really wanted to make a masculine sympathy card.  After doing the sponging, I overstamped the whole panel with a linen background stamp, but I don't think that really shows here in the pic.  (At least MY sick peepers don't see it in the picture.)

The sentiment is from a Hero Arts sentiment set.

The CCEEers Say Goodbye

The challenge for the CCEE Stampers this week was to say goodbye.  It can be any kind of a goodbye.......to a loved one who passed, someone going off to college, someone going on a trip......any type of goodbye you can thiink of.  I went with a sympathy card as my stash has gotten thin in this category plus I am building some new 'stashes' for holiday giving.  I used to make sets of cards, but now find that my friends enjoy getting a box of all occasion cards so that is my goal right now.

Sketch Time with the Crazies

Since this is the third challenge of the month for the Crazy4Challenges DT, Kristine has given us a fabulous sketch to use.  I was unable to 'grab' the sketch this week,, but when you visit the Crazies Blog you will be able to see it.







I used this fabulous tree image from Penny Black.  The sentiment is from Stampin Up.  I added paper piercing to the white base areas, and used brads as my 'element' in the upper left corner of the image.

The CCEEer's Go Direct

Brenda is the hostest with the mostest for June.  She has challenged the CCEE Stampers to a technique challenge.......DIRECT to PAPER.  There is a great tutorial for this at SCS.  You can use this link to get there.  I used my Big Juicy ink pad.  I just put white cardstock down on the ink pad and pressed.  The results are a backgrounder with varying intensity of color.  I kept my design CAS.  I used fern stamp from a retired SU set and a sentiment from My Favorite Things.  I added a touch of piercing and....voila....the card was done.

I have a tendency to avoid techniques, but there are some background techniques I really do like.  This is one of them.  The surprise of the results is always fun!

Going Gray (pink and white too) with the CCEE

The CCEE Stampers were given a color challenge this week.  We were to use gray, pink, and white.  I used a background stamp by Stamp Camp, heat embossing it with white embossing powder on gray cardstock.  I added a sentiment by My Favorite Things and a die cut bloom.

This really is a fabulous color combo, and I can't wait to see what the rest of this uber talented and sweet DT creates using it.  Be sure to visit the CCEE Stampers Blog to check their creations out.

The Crazies....Windows of the World

 

 

 It's time  for another challenge with the "Crazies" here at Crazy 4 Challenges. Our challenge hostess for March is Frances.

Before we get onto today's challenge we have a few announcements. First up after being with the "Crazies" since we began back in 2009 Joycelyn Pelkey has decided it is time for her to take a step back to spend more time with her family. Sad to see you go Joycelyn; all the best from your fellow "Crazies"!  We are pleased to announce that Tammy Hershberger is returning starting with this week's challenge ... Welcome back Tammy!

Looking through a window. Create a card with a window, it can be a stamped window, a window die or if you don't have an actual window image/die … then just create a window card. Remember when you look through a window you could be looking from the inside out or the outside in. Have fun!

CAS Sympathies from the CCEE'ers

I struggle with CAS cards, so as the CCEE Stampers Challenge hostess this week, I challenged them to make CAS sympathy cards.  I used a designer paper for my card base, so it doesn't have that typical 'lots of empty space' look....but it really is CAS.....at least in my book.  I used an unmounted sentiment, the only stamping on this card.  I used an MFT die to create my button in the same dp as my base card.  I also used an MFT die for my sentiment panel.  A MS border puch was used on the vertical panel.

The Crazies' Challenges Continue in 2013

Welcome to the Crazy4Challenges first challenge of the new year.  Our goal this week, issued by Betty, our January hostess, was to use ribbons and bows.  My sister needed a sympathy card, so that is the direction I went.  I used this floral silhouette from Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps.  The sentiment is an unmounted, unnamed stamp.  I used a MS border ribbon slotted punch to weave my ribbon on the sides, and then I added a bow below the main image.  I used a MFT oval doily die to frame the image.

Challenge -- Color Challenge of purple, yellow, and green

Well, if your cup of coffee didn't wake you up this morning, the colors of this card should....lol!!!!  Lois challenged us to a color combo of purple, yellow, and green.  Now I must say that when I saw the combo I totally had planned to do a lovely floral card, but then these digital images of the COFFEE BRAWD arrived and I just felt compelled to play with 'her'.  All images and the sentiment are from Totally Stampalicious.  You really should check out their stamps, because they have a great sense of humor and really make stamping fun!!! The really cool thing is that right now when you order a set of their stamps you get free digital images of that set for FREE!!  Isn't that cool????

Hostess ---Tosh

Challenge --- Inspiration Photo

Once again, Tosh inspired us with a photo.  Well,  I basically went with the colors -- pastels -- and used pretty in pink, vanilla, bashful blue, and barely banana.  I actually used to (in my baking days) make some sweet little pastel cookies that looked like this.  They melted in your mouth and were so pretty to display on a plate.  The stamps I used are from a retired SU set called Roses in Winter.

Now I just need to tell you that I had some difficulty with this photo of my card.  Please know that in real life, my rose is the same shade as the cardstock with a few darker areas.  The photo editing made it much deeper in my photo.  This is really the opposite of my first card.  This one is soft, pastel, and serene.
