CCEEers Enjoy Winter

Lynn is our hostess for the CCEE Stampers Challenge in February.  This is her challenge for this week.

Many of us are having icy or snowy weather (or are dreaming that we do) now that February has arrived. My challenge for you is to create a project which features some activity unique to the cold months of winter.

I broke out another virgin stamp set.  I have been trying to go through and use sets I just 'had to have' but never got around to using.  This one is from the now defunct There She Goes Stamps.  The images and sentiments in this set are just sooooo sweet for winter cards.  I also used a snowflake background die from Impression Obsession.

The Crazies Color Challenge

For this week's Crazy4Challenges goal, Heather asked us to create cards based on the color scheme in the photo below:

 

I decided to use one of my very favorite snowmen images.  This way I could get the colors into their scarves, buttons, ear muffs, and hat.

Going Scenic with the CCEE Stampers

Lynn and Liz, our CCEE Stampers hostesses for October, end the month with a challenge to create a scene.  (NO...not the kind of scene that you get in trouble for.....just use images/die cuts/dp to literally make a scenic card.)

I embossed the background and added a window.  The image I used is from La La Land stamps and the tree is a Cottage Kutz (I think).  Thiis was a pretty easy card to make, but I must admit I really do like the way it turned out.

CCEE Stampers Go with a Sketch

CCEE Stampers Glisten with Texture

This week the CCEE Stampers were challenged to make a card/project using embossing and glitter.  Well, anyone who knows me well knows that I stay away from glitter.  With my weak peepers, I surely don't need glitter in my eyes.  However, I did use a glitter pen on the hats and the snowball..  My embossing is one of my fav embossing folders......one that gives the feel of snow falling.  I also used a MS all over punch for the snowflake bkgd. element.

By the way, I apologize for the TERRIBLE photo....just couldn't get it to photograph crisply.

Going Sketchie with the Crazies

 

 

The Crazy4Challenges do a sketch challenge on the third week of each month.  Silke gave us this fabulous sketch to use this week.

I used this sweet image from La La Land which I had to have, but it remained a 'virgin' until this week.  I know I will use it often as it was fairly easy to color and cutout.  I also must say that I love this sketch......I will be using it again too.  Thanks, Silke.

Catching Up a Bit

I have made some cards for challenges on Splitcoast that I have not shared here on the blog so here they are......

 

 

30+ Inches......Phew!!!!

I have not had much time for stamping.  NEMO, the historic blizzard, hit Connecticut with hurricane force winds, thundersnow, and snow falling sometimes at a rate of 5-6 inches an hour.  During and after the storm, my shovel was permanently attached to my hand/arm.  If I wasn't helping with the driveway, I was shoveling snow off the bushes or shoveling out a 'toilet area' for our dogs.  We went out 3 times Friday night and several times on Saturday before we got it all done.  We had a total of 30 - 36 or so inches.......hard to tell as the wind was blowing it all around.  In the dogs' toilet area, I shoveled at least 50 inches (or more) as drifting snow would fill it in quickly.  Incredible!!!!  One very positive thing for us was that even though our lights blinked, we never lost power.  Sadly, this morning it was 0 degrees, and there were thousands who still did not have power.  Let's hope that ends for them very soon......I can't even imagine no heat in this weather!!!

I do not have pictures to share as I was too busy shoveling.  When I did think about pictures, the sun was already setting.

However.....today I am sharing some cards I made in recent weeks for challenges at SCS.  I am not going to give details.......just sharing the cards....if you have questions, just ask in your comment.

The Crazies Fall for Snowmen

Snowmen, Snowmen, Snowmen.......that is the challenge for the Crazy4Challenges this week.  Obviously, anyone who knows me knows that this was an easy one.  I do love snowmen cards.  At this moment, I can't remember what company made this stamp, but isn't it just the sweetest???

I went with traditional red with and untraditional olive green......all pulled together by that fabulous 'quilt' designer paper and the two other dps.

Snowmen Rule!!!

The CCEE challenge this week was to use a snowman.......well.....I picked an old snowman stamp that just gives me a grin each time I see it.  I also added, which you probably cannot see, snowflakes to the round panel behind the snowman.  I must honestly say that this card looked a lot cuter in my head, but I just don't have time to make a replacement card.....sorry!!!

Crazy for Chipboard

Brenda is our hostess for the month of October.  She has challenged the CCEE Stampers to include chipboard on our card/project.  Well.......I went right away to a box in which I have a variety of chipboard items.  I found this wonderful set of chipboard stickers a dear friend had given me, knowing that I love snowmen and snowflakes.  I created the background within the chipboard frame with designer paper and cut white paper, sponged with blue on the edges.  I added the SU sentiment at the bottom.  I then 'plopped' my finished frame onto a red base card......and that was that.

Going White on White with the Crazies

The Crazy4Challenges goal this week was to make a card using only white.....NO COLORS!!!  My mind right away went to snowflakes.  I am always trying to increase the pile of cards in my holiday stash.  I only used a sentiment stamp.  The rest was created with embossing, piercing, and some bling snowflakes.  Easy, yes....but with an elegant finish (I think!!)

C4C130 -- The Crazies Get Sketchy

Frances created the following fabulous sketch for our Crazy4Challenges this week.  We hadn't had a sketch in a bit.......AND, since I LOVE sketches, this week's challenge was perfect for me.

I decided to get another card done for the holiday stash.  I used this sweet little image from a very old retired SU stamp set.  I pretty much kept to the sketch, keeping it pretty clean and crisp.  I used my fav colors and also played with my Spellbinder poinsettia dies for the flower.

Now...head on over to the Crazies Blog.  It will be amazing how each person uses the same sketch and yet the results are so fabulously different.  That is why I LOVE sketches!!!

Holiday Stash Grows

My stamping time has been somewhat limited lately, so whenever I have a spare moment, I try to add another holiday card to my holiday stash.  Today I have two cards to share.  The first was done with a sketch from My Time Made Easy, a challenge blog.  I also entered it into today's Inspiration Challenge on SCS.  It uses stamps by Stampscapes, Serendipity Stamps, and PSX.  The snowflake was made with a Spellbinder die.

This second card was made using a very old, retired SU set..  The sentiment comes from another SU set.  The snowflakes were from a Martha Stewart punch.  I had bought this set in my pre-Copics days and had never been happy with any coloring of any of the images.  Here I kept the coloring to a minimum and somewhat monochromatic, and I do like it.

Totally Stampalicious gets textured!!!

I decided to use this week's Totally Stampalicious Monday Challenge to get another holiday card made for the 2012 stash.  I just love this sweet TS set called  Winter Bird Snowman.  So sweet, eh???  Our challenge this week was to use texture of some sort on our card.  I used two different embossing folders on my background pieces, plus added dimension with my snowflake.

CCEE1205 Scallops and Snowmen

Shirley is our hostess with the 'mostest' for the CCEE Stampers Challenge in February.  In this first challenge she asked us to use scallops and a snowman.

I had this image colored from before the holidays so I figured I should use him before I lose him, IYKWIM.  It is a Penny Black stamp.  The sentiment I used is from a retired SU set.

The Stash Grows

It is getting down to 'mail' time and I had to spend the afternoon making a bundle of cards.  Some were made to play in my friend Sue's VSN Challenge on SCS to make blue holiday cards....others were made using some scraps from the blue cards along with other colors.  All were kept pretty simple......and...here they are......no details....just cards......

A Totally Stampalicious Monday

The Monday Challenge from Totally Stampalicious this week was to have some snow on the card/project.  Well, I used my Martha Stewart snowflake border/corner punch set to get the job done.  I also added a snowflake button and added some bling to all of the snowflakes for a sparkling holiday card.  I used this winter bird and snowman image from the Bugaboo Line at Totally Stampalicious.

A Story to Tell....from Photo to Cards

This is the story behind these sets of cards.  About a year ago or so a dear friend shared  photos with me of a young girl having a tea party in the snow.  The girl in the photos is a granddaughter of my friend's friend.  (Are you following me so far???)  Well.....since it was the day of a Tea Party Challenge on SCS, I decided to share the photos with my dear friend Cindy, the Mudda in charge of the Tea Party.  Well, somehow Cindy shared the photos with Leigh from Happileigh Scrappin' Digital Images.  Leigh made digis from the photos and gave them to me.

Here are the original pictures.

I was determined to get three sets of cards made from these images....one set for the young girl depicted, one for her mother, and the third for the grandmother who shared the photo with my friend.  Accompanying this post is a sample card from each set.  I had to keep them fairly simple to make them flat and easily mailable for the recipients.  I hope they like them.

This last one was done using the Sketch Challenge from SCS.
