CCEEers Take Flight

Happy Birthday, Liz!!!

The fabulous Liz Williams is back as the CCEE Stampers Challenge hostess this week.  Here is her challenge for all of us.....

Tomorrow is my (Liz's) birthday,  and also Orville Wright's. Franklin D. Roosevelt issued a proclamation to make it National Aviation Day, to honor Orville Wright. I thought it would be fun to hunt down an image of something man has made fly in the air. It might be an airplane, helicopter, rocket, jet, or hot air balloon. If none of these are available to you, how about a kite or a simple birthday balloon? Our bonus can be to make it a birthday card!!!

I have to be honest and say that I forgot about the bonus to make this a b'day card.....sorry....no bonus for me.....

I have been trying to use some of my virgin stamping supplies.  Today I managed to use three.....the Spellbinders hot air balloon die, the frame die (not sure of companu), and the red tartan paper from Joanna Sheen.  I also used a cloud template to create the sky, a Stampscape tree stams for the tree tops, and added a sentie from Memory Box to finish it off.

Be sure to see all the creative 'flying' creations from this fabulously friendly and talented team at the CCEE Blog.

Thanks for the Crazies

Hello, welcome to a brand new Crazy for Challenges!!  Barbara is back as hostess for the last challenge of May ......  AND.......here is her challenge for us.

The end of May signals the end of the school year in the US. Let's make a teacher thank you card this week. If you don't have a use for a teacher thank you card feel free to make a generic thank you card instead.

We want to thank our awesome guest, Wanda Cullen of Cullen-ary Creations for joining us this month--we've enjoyed having you play with us.

I made a generic thank you card as I had no need of a teacher card.  I used a background stamp from Impression Obsession to make my main panel.  I then added a die cut sentiment (which I think is by Taylored Expressions) along with some outer paper piercing.

Be sure to visit the  Crazies Blog to see the fabulous thank you cards they have created.

CCEE Stampers Showcase Lighthouses

Maryann is starting as our CCEE Stampers Challenge hostess for May.  Here is her challenge.....

It is Maryann here with this months challenges.
Recently I had holidays at the beach and saw some beautiful lighthouses along the coast, so I am asking you to let there be light and add a lighthouse to your card.

I used a lighthouse stamp from Cornish Heritage Farms.  I used Copics to color it.  I added a frame using a Spellbinders die set.  The sentiment is from MFT.  Some piercing finished it off.

Be sure to visit the CCEE Stampers Blog to see the fabulous lighthouse creations by the rest of the DT.  I am sure you will be dazzled.

Popping Up with the Crazies

Hi everyone,

It's challenge time again for the  Crazy4Challenges DT.  Frances has a great challenge for us this week.......

The 19th January was National Popcorn Day, so let's add some 'POP' to our cards be it by creating a card that incls the theme popcorn; creating a Pop Up Card; just Popping up your image using foam tape or just adding a Pop of color to a black and white card.

I used a favorite retired SU stamp for my image.  I popped up the 'spotlighted' panel which was colored with Copics.  The sentiment was from MFT.

Be sure to check out the popped creations by the rest of the DT at the Crazies Blog.

Crazies Play with Colors

November has arrived and that means there is a new hostess for the Crazy4Challenges......and that would be me, Joanne/Jojot!!!  I am so very excited to announce that our Guest Designer for November will be the fabulous Karen Dunbrook.  Her talents are often on display at Splitcoast, and her specialty is CAS, vibrant colors, and incredible and innovative background effects.

Here is the challenge........ Let’s add to our Thanksgiving/Fall card stash by creating cards of thanks using the traditional colors of the season.  For those of you ‘down under’ you may certainly make Spring creations expressing thanks.

Due to health issues I have not made enough Thanksgiving cards to send out this year, so I just made a CAS card of thanks.  This will go to my 'gift' stash......for friends who love the receive stashes of assorted all occasion cards for Christmas.

Please be sure to stop in at the Crazies Blog to see the fabulous designs of our team and our fabulous guest designer.

It Is Sketch Week with the Crazies

This week's challenge is a sketch, given to us by our June Crazy4Challenges hostess,Danielle.

I went bright and summery with my interpretation of the sketch.  I used a fabulous 'virgin' stamp set by Flourishes.called 'Wild for Watermelong'.

Take a moment to check out the various fabulous takes on this sketch on the Crazies Blog.

CCEEers Go LONG.....

Liz continues as the CCEE Stampers Challenge hostess for June.  This is her challenge for this week.

We are coming up on the longest day of the year, June 21st. In honor of that, the challenge this week is to make a long card.

I kept mine CAS as I have trouble with long cards.  Mine is actually a 'small' long card, beiing only 5.5 inches tall.  I think my rose stamp is from Penny black.  The sentiment is from Hero Arts.

Be sure to check out the wonderfully long cards by the rest of this talented DT at the CCEE Blog.

Crazies Go for Sunshine and Yellow

It's a brand new month which means it is time to introduce our new Crazy4Challenges hostess for the month of June, which this time round is Danielle Lounds.

Each month we have a new Guest Designer to play along with us and this month we are pleased to introduce this month's Guest Designer ....
Debra Hensley from Minuet's Muse blog. We look forward to having Debra play along with us each week.

OK now onto this week's challenge!

This time of the year the sun finally comes out in full force. To celebrate, include a little sunshine on your project. Sun images, lots of bright yellow or your favorite sun ray folder/die cut would all work.

As you can tell from my card, I went with the bright yellows of sunshine, rather than sunshine itself.  This poppies stamp is from Penny Black and the sentiment is from Hero Arts.  I left the stems and leaves white to keep the image rather simple.

Be sure to visit the Crazies Blog to see the sunshine, yellow delights of this fab DT.

The Crazies Go Green...and Green....and Green......

Barb is back today with another challenge for us at the Crazy4Challenges DT.

May's birthstone is the emerald. Let your project strongly feature the color green this week. Any shade of green will do as long as it is the main color on your project.

I think I have the green requirement covered as most of my card is green with a touch of yellow.  My flowers were made with a Memory Box die.  I popped up a second layer of the yellow flowers to give it more dimensiin.  I used a SU punch for my sentiment panel.  I dry embossed the base panel and added a few rhinestones as accents.

Be sure to check out the GREEN creations by the rest of the DT at the Crazies Blog.

CCEE Stampers Challenge -- Fabric and Corrugated Paper

Welcome to the CCEE Stampers Challenge.  For the month of May, I (Joanne/jojot) am your hostess.  For the challenges this month, we are going to concentrate on tools and embellishments rather than themes.  Please feel free to do a faux version if you do not have the tool or embellishment.

This week our cards/projects must have fabric and corrugated paper.  The corrugated paper may be made with a crimper or already crimped.  The fabric must be something other than a ribbon.

My original plans were to use burlap on my card, but my stamp cave is such a mess that I could not put my hands on it.....so I went with Plan B.  I wish I could say that I created this beautiful fabric bloom, but I can't.  I have had it forever and just could never make it work on a card.  Well, this week I did.......I had to keep the rest of the card fairly simple.  I used already corrugated paper for my horizontal panel along borders made with a Martha Stewart punch, added some paper piercing, and the thank you sentiment finished it off.  I am happy to say that I love the results....plus I used this flower that has been hanging around for much tooooooo long.

Be sure to visit the CCEE Stampers Blog to see the fab creations by the DT....you are sure to be dazzled.

The Crazies Appreciate Teachers

Barb is back this week with another fun challenge for us all.

School will be letting out here in the US soon, let's make a teacher appreciation card and actually USE it. If you don't need it for yourself, gift it to someone who does.

I kept the school part subtle with the designer paper.  At the end of a school year, it was often nice to remember our 'real life'......so I went with this lovely rose from Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps.

As a retired teacher (after 35 years in the middle school realm) I can say that teachers really do appreciate expressions of true caring after spending a year with the students and their parents.  So do be sure to mail them if appropriate for your circumstances.

Wordplay with the CCEE

Today is Hug a Greeting Card Writer Day, so Lois asked the CCEE Stampers to create a card/project with something that starts with the three letters in HUG.

I must admit I was baffled......I had plenty of H's and G's, but could not think of U's that would relate to a card........so.........I got creative.  So.......here we go....

H = hydrangea
U = unlayered
G = green

Can;t wait to see what the others did with this challenge, especially with that dang U.  If you want to see how creative the team got, stop in at the CCEE Blog and find out.

By the way, if this card seems a bit familiar, it is because during the DTGD event on Splitcoast, I made a pink and white version with a different sentiment.

Check Out the News with the CCEE

Lois, our CCEE Stampers hostess for September, asked us to use newsprint in our creations as today is Newspaper Carrier Day.  I 'fudged' a bit.  I used a background stamp of Chinese newsprint.  This is a really simple card.  I die cut the fern image and layered it over the Chinese newsprint image.  Then I added a sentiment.  I have been trying to make cards that are easily mailed with a single stamp.  I am 'building' stashes of all occasion cards for holiday giving.

Be sure to visit the CCEE Stampers Blog to see the newsprint creativity of the rest of the team.

Crazy4Challenges and Animals

Helen is the Crazy4Challenges hostess for August, and this week she asked us to use at least one animal on our cards/projects.  She added the twist of NO Bears or Bunnies!!!

I went with a pig.......this is from an old SU stamp set.  In real life, this is pretty in pink, but when I tried to get rid of the '"muddiness' of the photo it changed into a hot, hot. hot pink, so I left it muddy as the color is more true to life.

Be sure to visit the Crazies Blog to see the menagerie of animal creations....

Crazies Create with Color Combo

Barbara, our Crazy4Challenges May hostess, has asked us to play with one of her fav color combos this week.

I decided to go the CAS route this week.  I spotted this dp I had bought a while ago and chose to use it as my base.  I punched my khaki horizontal panel with a MS border punch and then stamped it with a SU sentiment.  I then die cut my butterfly with a Cherry Lynn die and added some bling for a 'tail/trail' behind the butterfly.

Be sure to stop by the Crazies Blog to be inspired by the creative creations of the DT.

The Crazies Give Thanks

Anja, our Crazy4Challenges hostess for November, asked us to make 'thanks' cards this week.  I actually dug out an old SU leaf set that I had never used and embossed the leaves on mustard cardstock.  After doing that I felt that it needed a bit more interest in the background, so I overstamped the leaves with an old retired SU background linear stamp.  Must say I love the results.  Am hoping to make a few more of these to send out for Thanksgving...although time is running out for me.  I finished it off with a mustard horizontal panel with piercing, square goldtone brads, and the sentiment.

Now be sure to go to the Crazies Blog to see the 'thankful' wishes of the rest of the team.

30+ Inches......Phew!!!!

I have not had much time for stamping.  NEMO, the historic blizzard, hit Connecticut with hurricane force winds, thundersnow, and snow falling sometimes at a rate of 5-6 inches an hour.  During and after the storm, my shovel was permanently attached to my hand/arm.  If I wasn't helping with the driveway, I was shoveling snow off the bushes or shoveling out a 'toilet area' for our dogs.  We went out 3 times Friday night and several times on Saturday before we got it all done.  We had a total of 30 - 36 or so inches.......hard to tell as the wind was blowing it all around.  In the dogs' toilet area, I shoveled at least 50 inches (or more) as drifting snow would fill it in quickly.  Incredible!!!!  One very positive thing for us was that even though our lights blinked, we never lost power.  Sadly, this morning it was 0 degrees, and there were thousands who still did not have power.  Let's hope that ends for them very soon......I can't even imagine no heat in this weather!!!

I do not have pictures to share as I was too busy shoveling.  When I did think about pictures, the sun was already setting.

However.....today I am sharing some cards I made in recent weeks for challenges at SCS.  I am not going to give details.......just sharing the cards....if you have questions, just ask in your comment.

The Crazies Get Sketchie

This week, the Crazy4Challenges team was issued a sketch challenge by Betty, our hostess for the month of January.  You can see this sketch to the left.  I must admit that I generally LOVE sketches, but this one gave me a bit of a problem at first....just couldn't get the right combination to work.....however, in the end, I love the way this ended up.  The only stamping on this card is the sentiment.

I can't wait to see what the other Crazies came up with using this sketch.......so come along with me to the Crazies Blog and be dazzled and inspired by this fabulous team.

Totally Stampalicious Thanks

The challenge for the Totally Stampalicious Monday Challenge this week was inspired by Canada's Thanksgiving celebration.  We were to make a Thanksgiving card OR a card of thanks.  Since I have my Thanksgiving stash for this year done, I decided to make a thank you card.  I used The Balloon Kidz set for both my image and sentiment.

Now be sure to check out the Totally Stampalicious Blog to see the fabulous creations of the rest of the team.
