Crazy for Umbrellas

Being a brand new month it is time to introduce our Crazy4Challenges hostess, Frances Byrne. Our Guest Designer for March is Sandy Diller, I am sure you (like me) will enjoy seeing her creations this month.  Here is this week's challenge.......

Did you know that March was National Umbrella Month. This marvelous invention which helps prevent us from getting wet on those rainy days or can keep us sheltered from that sun was invented over four thousand years ago … wow!  Let's celebrate the umbrella this week by including one on our cards this week … it could be an umbrella to stop the rain, parasol or beach umbrella.

My umbrella was made with a Spellbinders die set.  The sentiment comes from a Flopsy set by MFT.  I added some piercing and a few polka dotted brads.

Be sure to visit the Crazies Blog to see the fabulous umbrella creations by the rest of the DT.

Crazies Go Sketchy

It is the third Saturday of February, so it is sketch week for the Crazy4Challenges DT.  Peggy, our hostess this month, gave us this fabulous sketch to work with.

I did no stamping for the front of this card.  The snowflake is a die from Memory Box while the sentiment is from  ????? (sorry).  I did leave the narrow diagonal panel off of my card.  I just couldn't get my planned design done with that element.....sorry once again.

Be sure to go to the Crazies Blog to see the fabulous variety of creations made from this sketch.

The CCEEers Play with Opposites

t

Frances continues as our January hostess with the moistest.  This is the challenge she gave the CCEE Stampers this week......

Did you know that the 25th January is National Opposite Day?  For our challenge this week make a card/project that has opposites on it. Think opposite colors on the color wheel, stripes and polka dots, black and white, mirror image, etc.

Of course, I had to go with black and white (with a tiny touch of RED).  The stamped image is from Penny Black, while the sentiment is from MFT.  I used heat embossing with white embossing powder for the image and the sentiment.  The sentiment panel was die cut with an MFT die.

Be sure to visit the Land of Opposites at the CCEE Blog.

Black Friday Shopping with the CCEE

First of all.....

Happy Thanksgiving
Hoping this day reminds you of the blessings in your life.

Now....onto today's challenge......

This is Frances' last week as our November hostess of the CCEE Stamper's Challenge.  Here is her challenge for the team (and YOU  if you would like to play along with us).....

Today is Thanksgiving in the USA and tomorrow is Black Friday. Many will be taking advantage of the sales. Create a card with a shopping theme, the card must also include the color black on it somewhere.

Obviously, I had no problems with the black part of the challenge.  I make very few cards without at least a touch of black somewhere.  The shopping theme was a bit more tricky, but then I remembered this old stamp I had bought at Michael's eons ago.  The sentiment is from My Favorite Things.  I added a lot of piercing, some dp, and brads.

Now, be sure to stop in and 'shop' the DT's shopping cards at the CCEE Blog.

Bows, Bows, Bows for the CCEE

Frances has been our hostess for the month of August.  For her last challenge of the month, she has given the CCEE Stampers the following challenge.

Apparently tomorrow is Bow Tie Day, so for our challenge this week let's include some sort of bow on our cards this week … it doesn't have to be a Bow Tie as long as it is a bow.

I, obviously, did not go with the bow tie.  Unfortunately, due to my health I have not been able to create many holiday cards.  So I am now trying to build my stash whenever possible.  I used this wrest stamp from (?) and the sentiment from a SU retired set.  My skinny bow is a die from Impression Obsession.

Be sure to check out  the CCEE Blog to see the 'bowed' creations by this fabulously creating and special DT.

CCEE Stampers Challenge -- Fabric and Corrugated Paper

Welcome to the CCEE Stampers Challenge.  For the month of May, I (Joanne/jojot) am your hostess.  For the challenges this month, we are going to concentrate on tools and embellishments rather than themes.  Please feel free to do a faux version if you do not have the tool or embellishment.

This week our cards/projects must have fabric and corrugated paper.  The corrugated paper may be made with a crimper or already crimped.  The fabric must be something other than a ribbon.

My original plans were to use burlap on my card, but my stamp cave is such a mess that I could not put my hands on it.....so I went with Plan B.  I wish I could say that I created this beautiful fabric bloom, but I can't.  I have had it forever and just could never make it work on a card.  Well, this week I did.......I had to keep the rest of the card fairly simple.  I used already corrugated paper for my horizontal panel along borders made with a Martha Stewart punch, added some paper piercing, and the thank you sentiment finished it off.  I am happy to say that I love the results....plus I used this flower that has been hanging around for much tooooooo long.

Be sure to visit the CCEE Stampers Blog to see the fab creations by the DT....you are sure to be dazzled.

The 'EYES' Go Crazy......

Hi Crazy Fans!

It's a brand new month which means it is time to introduce our new Crazy4Challenges  hostess for the month, which this time around is Barb Anders.

Before we get onto this week's challenge, we have some updates for you.  First up, Lynn Putt, sadly, has left us as she is very busy and doesn't have the time to play along with us right now.

Vicki Burdick, who was our Guest Designer in April, has now joined us on the Design Team. We are excited to welcome her to the team.

Finally we need to introduce this month's Guest Designer .... Broni Holcomb from Splash of Watercolor blog. We look forward to having Broni play along with us each week.

OK,  now onto this week's challenge!

There are ALL kinds of "holidays" these days.  Have you noticed that? One of the "monthly" observances for May (in the US, at least) is Healthy Vision Month. I know we're all aware of how precious vision is.   So let's celebrate it this week. Your project should have something related to vision or eyes on it. Use your imagination--the "eyes" have it this week!

On this card I used die cuts from two small die sets by Impression Obsession.  The sentiment comes from a Pure Innocence set by My Favorite Things.

Be sure to stop by the Crazies Blog to see the fab creations by the DT.

This CRAZY is Back to Play

I am happy to say that I have a card to share for this week's Crazy4Challenges post.  I have been MIA for a few weeks due to sciatica.  It has been a painful journey, but it will hopefully come to an end in two weeks when I have an injection in my back.  However,  I have been trying to hobble down to the stamp cave so I can 'play' and rejoin my challenge teams.  Thanks for your patience.

This week, our hostess is Lynn....and here is her challenge......

Since today is World Penguin Day and tomorrow is National Go Birding Day, let's create a card or project using some type of bird.

If you would like to play along with us this week, upload your card/project to your blog or online gallery using the keyword C4C283.  Then pop over to the Crazies Blog and link it on Inlinkz so we can see it too! :)

On my card I used no stamps.  I used die cuts from Memory Box, Spellbinders, and MFT.  In the background of the circle panel I also used a cloud embossing folder, but can't remember from which company.

Thanks for looking.

Sketch for the Crazies

It is the third challenge of the month, so our February Crazy4Challenges hostess, Kelli, has given us a fab sketch to play with.

I went very clean and simple with the sketch, using embossing in place of the two horizontal panels, and leaving off two small elements of the design.  I have unfortunately needed several sympathy cards lately, so I prefer them to be less 'busy' than other cards.  My image is by Penny Black and my sentiment is from Hero Arts.

Be sure to see the fab creations created from this sketch at the Crazies Blog.

Here Comes Santa Claus

For the last CCEE Stampers Challenge of 2014, we were asked to feature Santa on our cards/projects.  I used my absolute favorite Santa by Flourishes.  This was a pretty simple card to stamp, but I had some fun creating the layout.  I added some piercing to the small vertical areas on the sides of the base card.

Can't wait to see how Santa is featured on the cards/projects of the rest of this fabulous DT.  Join me in checking out their creations at the CCEE Blog.

AND

At this time I would like to say what a joy it has been to play with this team throughout 2014.  Many of them are longtime Splitcoast stamping friends while others are new friends.  What they all have in common is that they inspire me and motivate me to grow in my chosen craft.  They cheer each other on, have shared grief in the loss of one of our members nearly a year ago, are forgiving when real life gets in the way of stamping, and just generally share in each others joys and woes.  Thanks to each of you for being my friends.  Wouldn't it be wonderful to all meet in real life, face to face??????  I can dream, can't I?????

AND

I would like to wish you and yours the happiest of holiday seasons.

Merry Christmas
and
Happy New Year

I will have one more post for the Crazies Challenge and then will return in

2015

with a CCEE Challenge and Crazies Challenge in the first week of January.

CCEE Sketch It

Before I talk about this week's challenge, I would like to make two introductions as the CCEE Stampers Challenge has two new additions to our Design Team. We are excited that both Liz Williams and Lynn McAuley have agreed to join our Design Team, I am sure you will love their creations. They are regular 'challenge chasers' on Splitcoast, so if you hang around there (as many of us do) you already know these two gals.  They are stamping 'sistahs'.

Frances gave the CCEE Stampers a sketch challenge this week.  I used a wonderful tulip stamp from Cornish Heritage Farms along with a sentiment from Verve.  I used assorted Spellbinders die cuts as well, along with some added paper piercing.

Be sure to visit the CCEE Stampers Blog to see the original sketch and  the fab creations the DT made with this fabulous sketch.

The CCEE'ers Think ART

As the CCEE Stampers Challenge hostess for March, I am pleased to share our 'artistic' challenge for this week.

Michelangelo’s birthday was March 6, 1475,   Let’s honor this wonderful artist with our cards this week.  Either have a sentiment that refers to ART in some way or have an image that shows an artistic tool (ex. paintbrush, pen, artist palette).  Let’s get our artsy vibes flowing.

I used a cityscape die from Memory Box  along with a paintbrush die from MFT to create my card.  I used a 'splotch' stamp for my paint and one of my fav sentiment stamps to pull it all together.

I can't wait to see what the rest of the team ccreated for this challenge.  Come along with me to the CCEE Stamper's Blog to be dazzled and inspired.

CCEE'ers Play with Mosaics

Vicky is the CCEE Stampers Challenge hostess for February.   For her first challenge of the month, she wanted us to create a paper mosaic of some type.  I used small squares of polka dotted dp to create my vertical panel behind the PI image.  Both the PI image and the sentiment are from My Favorite Things.  I paper pieced the PI's bathrobe.

Be sure to go to the CCEE Blog to see the variety of mosaics created by my fellow DT members.  I am sure you will be inspired.  Directions will also be there for how you can play right along with us.

Late to the Crazies Sketch Party

This will be a quick post as, once again, I forgot to write my post ahead of time and am hours late in posting.  I will blame it on this dang lung infection I have been dealing with, but that really is no excuse.  I just plain forgot to post.  ANYHOOOOOO.......

At the Crazies Blog you will find the 10 sketches we could choose from this week.  These sketches were an accumulation of the sketches we had done throughout the year.  We were to pick our favorite one and create a card.  This is mine.

The image comes from Sweet n' Sassy Stamps while the sentiment is from Stampin Up.  Be sure to visit the Crazies Blog to see the sketches and the fab creations of the rest of the team.

Keeping the CCEE Stampers in Stitches

Cindy is back today with another fun challenge for you to play along with.  This week we are creating a card/project that includes stitching of some sort.  I know the CCEE Stampers are up to this challenge.

I used an image from a Mark's Finest Papers set.  My stiiching is faux stitching.  I pierced the two layers with 'stitching' and used a fine line pen to 'connect' the pierced circles for 'stitching'.

Be sure to check out the fabulous stitching, real or faux, at the CCEE Stampers Blog.

Crazies Pop with Black and White

The Crazy4Challenges challenge this week was made for me.  I just love a black and white combo.  The only thing better than that is black and white and RED.  Our challenge was to make a card using mostly black and white, but we were to POP it with one other color.

I used this fabulous snowflake stamp by Hero Arts, heat embossing it on black.  I then added the simple sentiment panel.

Be sure to check out the other creations by the Crazies as I am sure they will be fabulously dramatic in the black and white.

One Layer Only with the CCEE

Well, Lois, our CCEE Stampers hostess for September, has become quite an accomplished CAS card creator, so I was not surprised with this week's challenge........to make a one layer card.  I actually knew right away what I was going to do.......design a one layer card for my holiday stash which I can produce quickly and in multiples.  I used this fabulous snowflake stampf from Hero Arts, heat embossed in white on the red base card.  I added a wintery sentiment and a few black pearls.  AND....must say that I just love it!!!!

I can't wait to see the one layer beauties created by the rest of the team on the CCEE Stampers Blog.

Getting Thrifty with the CCEE Stampers

I am posting this at the last possible moment due to issues I had with this week's CCEE Stampers challenge.  Well, it wasn't really the challenge itself, which was to make your own embellishments (buttons, brads, etc.).  The lack of time was the issue.  I had a card made on which I created faux brads, as I did on this final card.  However, before they could dry, I had a DUH! moment and placed papers on top of it.  Smushed brads and ruined papers were the result.  So then I decided to make faux buttons......a similar sad story.  I went back to the brad idea, but was smart enough to put the card in a safe place to dry.  I made my brads by punching out small circles and then putting a 'bubble' of crystal effects on top to add dimension and shine.

I did use two designer papers as was required along with the faux embellishments....however, I failed to use an embossing folder, the third requirement.....would have been easy to do, I just forgot that part.

Now....travel on over to the CCEE Blog to see the fabulous embellishments created by the rest of this friendly and fabulous team.

Designer Paper Is a NO-NO This Week.

For the last challenge of the month for the Crazy4Challenges, Barbara asked us to use NO designer paper at all!!!  Our cards could be CAS or not.  We could make our own designer paper or not.

I decided to make a woven background with strips of red with a thin black border (done with a Copic marker).  I added the perfect sentiment for a RED card AND a dear stamping friend known for her love of the color RED.  I used MFT dies for the sentiment panels, added Wild Orchid floeers, and some black gem flourishes and a die cut fern.  This card reached it destination a while ago.

Now be sure to visit the Crazies Blog to view the fabulous creations by the Crazies without designer paper.
