Getting Thrifty with the CCEE Stampers

I am posting this at the last possible moment due to issues I had with this week's CCEE Stampers challenge.  Well, it wasn't really the challenge itself, which was to make your own embellishments (buttons, brads, etc.).  The lack of time was the issue.  I had a card made on which I created faux brads, as I did on this final card.  However, before they could dry, I had a DUH! moment and placed papers on top of it.  Smushed brads and ruined papers were the result.  So then I decided to make faux buttons......a similar sad story.  I went back to the brad idea, but was smart enough to put the card in a safe place to dry.  I made my brads by punching out small circles and then putting a 'bubble' of crystal effects on top to add dimension and shine.

I did use two designer papers as was required along with the faux embellishments....however, I failed to use an embossing folder, the third requirement.....would have been easy to do, I just forgot that part.

Now....travel on over to the CCEE Blog to see the fabulous embellishments created by the rest of this friendly and fabulous team.

I totally understand your story, Joanne. I forgot the embossing folder too. Wound up cutting out my butterfly and removing flourish from my original card and putting them onto another piece of cardstock which I HAD embossed! Your card is lovely.

Ack - I hate it when I have something drying and put something else on it - or don't take time to clean a stamp and then of course you know the rest of the story...I can't tell you how careful I was to put my buttons aside off my desk after I glossed them up :D.
At least you ended up with a great card at the end of it - the little pop of red from your brads is fantastic, and this one would work equally well for a guy.

Jo,
Your card is beautiful and elegant. I have done exactly the same you did - except I used a pearl pen and squished the pearls before they were dry!

You and I seemed to have the same difficulties in producing my challenge, GF!! Funny the duh moments we have! In any event, the end results--in your fav color combo -- was worth the effort...beautiful card as always.

(Stopped in to check out my email and comment on today's CCEE cards. My sis is in a lot of pain, but that's to be expected. We do believe this fusion worked and in 6 months or so, she'll be good as new! No internet there and I'm in withdrawal!)

Yikes! We've all been there and done those things. Seems many of you have a 'challenging' time with this one. LOL Of course, your card turned out great. Love the big sentiment.
