Embedded and Punched

Once again I combined my CCEE Stamper's Challenge with the Stampin B's Challenge (#96).  However, I must say that I worked much harder on this card than I should have........AND it is all the fault of our new puppy.  Her needs kept interrupting an already challenging stamping process......but....what a cute interruption she is!!!  If you haven't seen her yet, go to this post.......she is worth the effort!!!!

The Stampin B's Challenge this week was given by Vicky, and she gave us a technique challenge.  It is called 'embedded image'.  Basically you do several simple steps.  First you stamp a background stamp of some sort on your image panel.  I used an old plaidlike SU bkgd. stamp.  You then directly apply your Versamark pad all over your image panel and heat emboss it with clear embossing powder (regular not UTEE).  You repeat this step 3-4 times.  Your image panel now has a smooth glasslike apprearance.  Now apply Versamark to a solid stamp image (I used my fav SU fern).  Stamp it on your now glasslike panel and use a darker (I used black) embossing powder and heat emboss it.  As you apply the heat, your image seems to 'dive' into the layers of embossing.

You really must visit the Stampin B's Blog to see the fab creations of the rest of the team. (Mine was late, so it may not be there.)  We would love for you to play along.  On SCS, there are very clear directions by Holly (Toy) in the Technique Challenge #297.

So........after making my image with the technique, that is where the struggle began.  I really wanted to combine my challenges today..........

The CCEE Stampers Challenge (CCEE1105), issued by Tosh,  was to use punches.  Well, I have hundreds of punches....all sorts of punches......big, little, new, old, funny, beautiful punches........I LOVE PUNCHES!!!!!  The problem was my image...it was too big to fit much punchwork......I have so many borders floating around the stamp cave right now....all the ones I love but didn't work with this image........well.....I finally went with two punches......my often used corner rounder and a combined border/corner punch from Fiskar's which I used to create the background.

That is my whole sad story..........now....get a move on and visit the CCEE Blog to see the fab creations of the rest of the team.  We would love for you to get all 'punchy' with us!!!

On the weather front, we have survived a two day snow/ice event.  Now our mounds of snow have a nice frozen smooth outer coating of ice......sidewalks are ice covered.......and the poor dogs.....their 'bathroom' area is positively frozen.......will it ever go away?????  Here in CT, the news is full of building collapses due to the heavy weight of accumulated snow and now ice on the roofs.  AND...can you believe it, we have more snow predicted for Saturday and mid week........ack...ack....ack!!!!!!

Another fabulous and stunning creation, JoJo! I'll have to try that technique; it looks really cool. I bet you're enjoying every minute with your sweet little Angel. How's Pepper handling the newest addition to the fam? We got a foot of snow here yesterday. We are tired of the snow, too!

What a fantastic technique Joanne!! And your rounded corners work beautifully with that image!! Love your new baby too. Too, too precious, even with the interruptions!! So sorry for the snow dump though...I'm sure it's getting a bit old by now!

This is positively stunning, Joanne! I tried and tried with this technique, but just didn't have the time to finally get all the kinks worked out. (We were kept busy with multiple sessions of snow removal yesterday. I feel like I've been hit with a Mack truck.) I'm not looking forward to the additional snow on the way!!

Good job with the embedded image, Joanne. It sounds as if you have enough punches to open a store. LOL
I hope your weather begins to take a better turn soon. I remember several years ago, we had 11 inches of ice in the northwestern part of my state (believe it or not) and you could hear trees popping all over the neighborhood. It was a sad sight to see the loss. And, a few building roofs collapsed. We've had two really bad ice storms that I remember. Hope that is not in our future for another 50 years...if ever.
I can tell you are head over heels in love with Angel and I don't blame you. What a cutie!
