CCEE'ers Try Special Folds

Okay.....I must admit that when I saw Sabrina's CCEE Stamper's challenge for this week, I may have groaned a time or two.  I tend to avoid unusually constructed and folded cards as I find I do not ever send them out.  However, after making this one, I must admit it was pretty easy and it really is mailable.  AND...most importantly, a recipient will be able to figure out how to open it without my help.

By the way...the challenge was to do this technique (free standing pop up card) OR a waterfall card.

I used this stamp by Penny Black which I always turn to as I make holiday cards.  The rest of the designs are designer paper or cardstock.  If you would like to try one of these, there is a tutorial on Splitcoast called 'free standing pop up card'.

This is the card folded up.  Ignore the thumb at the left.

I can't wait to see what the rest of the team created using this 'fold/style'....I am sure to be inspired to try this technique again....REALLY!!!!  The CCEE Stamper's Blog is the place to go!!!

Thank you for persevering through the initial groan and coming up with such a sweet card, Joanne. Yep, these really are mailable and pretty obvious to the recipient. I avoid easel cards because I'm never sure people will know what to do ;-). I love the way you used two different papers on the pop-up tab, and the added bling on the base. This has a wonderful old-fashioned feel with those colours, and an up-to-date feel with the design.

Great papers, pretty cardinal, and clever technique added up to one very nice Christmas card. Love all the red and green!

Wonderful job on this pop up, Joanne! Your designer papers are just perfection as is your coloring on that cardinal. Love it.

Fabulous job, Joanne. I never tried one of these but it sure looks like fun and I can see how easy they would be to mail. It really is beautiful!

I love this free standing pop-up!! Have you ever seen a more beautiful bird than the cardinal.....and not just because it's RED!! Against the white of snow (or the white bg), it's so gorgeous! Great job, my friend.
